For the past 20 years, San Juan Clipper Capt. Jason Mihok has spent his summers exploring the Salish Sea and exposing locals and tourists alike to one our greatest regional treasures – orca whales in the San Juan Islands. This mini-documentary is a glimpse into the joy and exhilaration that is at the heart and soul of Clipper whale watching.
And then to look back and see people’s reactions…I mean, you get people who are so excited they are almost in tears.”

Great video of the San Juan Clipper and Capt. Mihok. Obviously a professional and ecology minded excursion. No time to take the tour on this trip to Seattle, but will plan to book it next time over.
Hi Dan,
Thank you! Glad to hear you like the video. We’d love to have you along next time you visit, check out our San Juan packages at https://www.clippervacations.com/packages/san-juan-islands/ to book.
I was VERY fortunate to go on the San Juan Clipper on it’s first trip of this season on May 20th. I can not put into words what a truly amazing experience it was. Capt. Mihok and crew were very informative and where just as excited as all of the passengers when we came upon several pods of Orcas. There were more then 15 whales playing, breching, and teaching their babies how to fish. We saw whales the entire 1+ hours we were up by Anacortes. Then as we were making our return trip in the early evening we passed 2 cruise ships out of Seattle and within maybe 5 minutes after we passed the second one Capt. Mihok came on and said that he was making an unscheduled stop ahead because there was another pod of Orcas and he knew we all wouldn’t mind if he slowed down to see them. This time it was terrific because we were the only boat and there was a family of at least 6 whales with a few babies who put on a little show for us all. This was my first ever whale watch trip and it was a magical experience for me! I can’t thank the Capt. and crew enough. I’m hoping to relocate out to the Seattle area and when I do I will become a frequent whale watching passenger onboard the San Juan Clipper for sure! Thank you all again for a wonderful experience!
Hi Kim,
Thank you for the kind words! We’re so glad to hear you had an amazing experience whale watching with us, seeing the orca babies splash and play with their families is one of our favorite things too. We certainly are lucky to call this beautiful region home and look forward to having you join us again soon for another adventure.
We had a very pleasant journey to Victoria. Best experience ever. Will come back and do this over again.
Hi Kathy,

Cheers,
