The Royal British Columbia Museum is a place of discovery. Through unique galleries, the Museum showcases the human and natural history of British Columbia and temporary exhibits from other countries and cultures. Authentic artifacts and specimens are displayed in highly realistic settings, giving visitors the experience of another time and place. It’s permanent exhibits include the First People’s Gallery, Modern History Gallery and the Natural History Gallery.

Silver of the Stars

The exhibition is a stunning collection of contemporary silver designed by, and created for, some of the biggest names in film, music, fashion, theatre and literature. Based on the theme “a drink with a close friend,” 10 celebrities, including Sir Sean Connery, Robbie Coltrane and Ewan McGregor, collaborated with Scottish silversmiths to create elaborate drinking vessels.

S’abadeb-- The Gifts: Pacific Coast Salish Art and Artists

Nov. 20, 2009 - March 8, 2010

The first-ever comprehensive exhibition of Coast Salish artistry and culture to be compiled and exhibited. Showcasing 165 works of art divided into five sections, S'abadeb explores the unique artistry and culture of Salish First Nations of British Columbia and Washington State. Historic sculpture, basketry and weaving are shown side by side with contemporary artworks to emphasize the ongoing vitality of the Salish artistic traditions today. Organized by the Seattle Art Museum, this Canadian premiere comes to the Royal BC Museum Nov. 20, 2009 - March 8, 2010.
